Head of Community Engagement

Position Description

North-Eastern Montessori School is an independent School offering a Montessori based curriculum for children from Early Learning and Foundation to Year 6.  Located in the beautiful leafy suburb of St Helena, North-Eastern Montessori School provides a progressive and established way of learning that is tailored to each child.   

North-Eastern Montessori School is seeking a Head of Community Engagement to lead the School’s communication and marketing strategy, and facilitate the engagement of the School community through key initiatives, events and fundraising opportunities.

The Head of Community Engagement works collaboratively with the School’s Registrar and the School Principal to ensure that the School’s Admissions process reflects best practice, warmth and care of our community members. Working in conjunction with the School’s leadership team, the Head of Community Engagement acts as a key liaison to the Friends & Families Alliance, and the Alumni Association.

The successful applicant will have knowledge of the Montessori approach to education, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to all families.   Tertiary qualifications in Community Engagement, Marketing, Education, or a related discipline well regarded.

Receptionist & First Aid Officer

Position Description

North-Eastern Montessori School welcomes applications for the position of a School Receptionist to work on a permanent basis between the hours of 8:00 – 4:00pm daily. 

The School Receptionist is responsible for providing a welcoming atmosphere to all North-Eastern visitors, students and staff and providing a full range of secretarial and administrative support functions.  The role encompasses skills in managing front desk enquiries, incoming phone calls, word processing, data entry, database management and other general administrative tasks.  

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, a strong interest in the Montessori pedagogy, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to all families.  

The School Receptionist will take on the dual role of First Aid Officer, and manage all aspects of the First Aid Office.

Executive Assistant

Position Description

North-Eastern Montessori School is an independent school offering a Montessori based curriculum for children from Early Learning and Foundation to Year 6.  Located in the beautiful leafy suburb of St Helena, North-Eastern Montessori School provides a progressive and established way of learning that is tailored to each child.  

North-Eastern Montessori School is seeking an Executive Assistant to join our team on a full-time, ongoing basis commencing in 2025. The Executive Assistant performs a full range of secretarial and administrative support functions, including prompt, courteous and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the smooth and effective administration of the Principal’s office.  The EA supports other members of the Executive team, including but not limited to the Business Manager, and the Deputy Head of the School.

The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing a high level of professional, practical and timely support to the Principal in their day to day responsibilities.  The Executive Assistant will also work closely with members of the Leadership team, Administrative team and School Board.

The Executive Assistant will also be required to perform high-quality customer focused reception and administrative activities as directed by the Business Manager.

Middle Years Teacher

North-Eastern Montessori School is proud to announce the introduction of our Middle Years Program in 2026, commencing with our first cohort of Year 7 students. 

The Middle Years Program will cater to the physical, mental and social needs of adolescents, offering a rigorous curriculum focused on real-life experiential learning. Our Montessori approach is known for prioritising student autonomy, catering to individual needs and strengths, and nurturing relationships between students and educators, as well as building a cohesive, and co-operative learning community. 

Our aim as a School is to create an environment where students love to learn, a place where they feel accepted and welcomed for who they are.  Plans for building works are currently underway for the Middle Years Hub which will provide a state of the art facility for students and staff, in addition to the 3.5 acre Nature Reserve for use by the adolescent community. 

These newly created roles provide an exciting opportunity for two passionate and motivated Teachers to lead the Middle Years Program.   The successful applicants will have a strong in-depth knowledge of the Montessori Adolescent Program, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.  You will have a minimum of a 12-18 AMI Diploma, as well as a teaching qualification that would satisfy VIT requirements for teaching registration in Victoria.   

The Middle Years Teacher roles are full time, ongoing positions.  The successful applicants will commence in Term 4 2025, which will provide support for you to plan and prepare the curriculum before the first cohort of students commence in Term 1 2026.
